.: Using Two Weapons in Melee Combat :.
· DV8 [21-01-2008 / 11:28:59]

When using two weapons in melee combat the person wielding the weapons needs to have the Off-Hand (Weapon) Skill in order to properly use the other weapon. The weapon also has to be of equal or smaller size than the weapon wielded in the primary hand. When these two requirements are met, the character can add half the dice in the Off-hand (Weapon) Skill to the primary skill dice in order to make one attack.

Example 1:
A character wielding two knives has the following skills:

Edged Weapons: 6
Off-hand (Knives): 6

This character can now add half the off-hand knives skill [3] to her Edged weapons skill [6] and rolls her attack with 9 dice.

Example 2:
A character wielding a baseball bat in one hand and a knife in the other has the following skills:

Clubs: 4
Off-hand (Knives): 6

This character can now add half the off-hand knives skill [3] to her Clubs skill [4] and rolls her attack with 7 dice.

[house rule] If the person doesn't have that skill, he or she may default to a linked skill or attribute, however the attack roll will get a +2 TN penalty when linked to a skill, or a +4 penalty when linked to an attribute, regardless whether the character does have the necessary skill to wield the primary weapon.

Example 1:
A character wielding a baseball bat in one hand and a knife in the other has the following attributes / skills:

Clubs: 4
Quickness: 4

Because this character does not have the Off-hand Knives skill, nor any skill she can default to, she has to default to her Quickness attribute to wield the knife. She can take half her attribute dice [2] and add that to her primary skill dice [4] and make one attack with 6 dice, but she does get a +4 TN penalty since she defaulted to an attribute.

Example 2:
A character wielding a sword in one hand and a knife in the other has the following attributes / skills:

Edged Weapons: 4

Because this character does not have the Off-hand Knives skill, she has to default to the Edged Weapons skill so she can wield the knife. She can take half her Edged Weapons dice [2] and add that to her primary skill dice [4] and make one attack with 6 dice, but she does get a +2 TN penalty since she defaulted to a skill.

When the character that's wielding multiple weapons has either the Ambidexterity Edge of a level 3 or higher [6 points or higher] she doesn't need to have the off-hand weapon skill in order to wield two weapons in melee. She can simply use the normal skill for it, provided she has it, otherwise she'll have to default like normal.

Example 1:
A character wielding two knives has the following skills:

Edged Weapons: 6

This character can now add half of her Edged Weapons skill [3] for her off-hand to her Edged Weapons skill [6] for her primary hand and roll an attack with 9 dice.

Example 2:
A character wielding a baseball bat in one hand and a knife in the other has the following skills:

Clubs: 4
Edged Weapons: 6

This character can now add half of the Edged Weapons skill [3] to her Club skill [4] and rolls her attack with 7 dice.

Example 3:
A character wielding a baseball bat in one hand and a knife in the other has the following attributes skills:

Clubs: 4
Quickness: 4

Because this character does not have the Edged Weapons skill, nor any skill she can default to, she has to default to her Quickness attribute to wield the knife. She can take half her attribute dice [2] and add that to her primary skill dice [4] and make one attack with 6 dice, but she does get a +4 TN penalty since she defaulted to an attribute.
